Quotes from legendary investor Warren Buffett
Warren Buffett is an American investor and philanthropist. He is one of the most successful investors in the world. Often called the “legendary investor Warren Buffett”, he is the primary shareholder, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. He is consistently ranked among the world’s wealthiest people, and is the third wealthiest person in the world as of 2010.
Buffett is called the “Oracle of Omaha” or the “Sage of Omaha” and is noted for his adherence to the value investing philosophy and for his personal frugality despite his immense wealth. Buffett is also a notable philanthropist, having pledged to give away 99 percent of his fortune to philanthropic causes, primarily via the Gates Foundation.
Here are some of our favourite quotes from Warren Buffet:
– Putting people into homes, though a desirable goal, shouldn’t be our country’s primary objective. Keeping them in their homes should be the ambition. (SWP – although this quote was (of course) talking about the USA, it seems very appropriate to the current housing/property situation in Australia)
– Whether we’re talking about socks or stocks, I like buying quality merchandise when it is marked down.
– If you’re in the luckiest 1 per cent of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99 per cent.
– I try to buy stock in businesses that are so wonderful that an idiot can run them. Because sooner or later, one will.
