Convention Snapshot
Established in 1986 by two advisers with a passion for delivering quality advice to Australians, Securitor has been partnering with advisers for over 27 years.
Over the years they’ve created a strong and supportive community of over 470 advisers, and have developed a tradition of coming together for an annual national Convention.
The convention has travelled to the far corners of Australia, and as testament to the group’s success and passion, each year the number of attendees has increased, and the social and professional rewards have grown exponentially.
Some of the interesting and highly motivating keynote speakers at the 2014 convention included:
The Hon. Tim Fischer AC
The Honourable Tim Fischer AC is the former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia and was the Australian Ambassador to the Holy See for 3 years until January 2012. A former Australian Army Officer, NSW State Parliamentarian, Leader of the National Party and Minister for Trade, Tim Fischer is also a consultant, company director, author, broadcaster, and multiple patron.
Alex Malley FCPA –Chief Executive, CPA Australia
Alex Malley is responsible for 19 offices globally and 150,000 CPA Australia members in 121 countries.
He is one of only two Australians to have featured on the Accountant publication’s list of the world’s top 50 most influential people in the accounting profession. At the National Press Club he has addressed issues impacting Australia’s economic competitiveness and future.
Tackling leadership matters is something he has always taken very seriously. As host of the television series The Bottom Line, screened nationally on the Nine Network Australia, Alex brings these issues into sharp focus through interviews with fellow leaders from business, politics and the community. The interview he conducted with the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong, was the most substantive ever filmed. News surrounding it reached an estimated audience of over one billion people.
Rachael Robertson
Former Antarctic expedition leader, Chief Ranger and leader with 20 years of extreme leadership experience and best-selling author of Leading On The Edge
Leading an Antarctic expedition, coordinating media during the Black Saturday bushfire event and leading teams through turmoil all required extreme leadership and the ability to inspire through tough times. As Rachael reveals using incredible and often hilarious examples, these events demanded big leadership in small moments, because it’s the small moments that build momentum.
As only the second female to lead a team at Davis Station in Antarctica she managed a diverse group of up to 120 people, through total isolation, months of darkness, with no way in and no way out. It was a leadership laboratory in the most extreme and hostile environment on Earth, where most of the theory doesn’t apply.
